You must all know by now that I am a huge eye makeup aficionado and love to play around with eye makeup a lot. That being said, I am not much into buying a lot of eyeshadows but really believe in investing in some good palettes that I can derive good use out of. The Modern Renaissance Palette is one such palette that had my attention for a long time before I actually had a chance to lay my hands on it. I was on the edge about choosing between this and another very popular high end palette, The HUDA Beauty Rose Gold Palette but ended up choosing this one for a lot of reasons and I am so glad I did.
The Modern Renaissance palette comes in a cardboard packaging which also houses a mirror inside. The outer case is a blush colored velvet and though I love how luxurious it feels, I am not quite a fan of it since it catches dust and dirt and gets spoilt easily (I have already spoilt mine !). Other than that, its nice and handy and I guess easy to carry along on your travels. Not much of an issue over there.
The palette houses a total of 14 gorgeous warm toned shades, with a mix of matte, satin and metallic finishes. While all the shades were smooth, buttery and pigmented, some a little more than the others, there was one particular shade that wasn’t quite as smooth, and that was the shade Raspberry. Although, it is a beautiful shade and it is quite pigmented, I’m afraid to say it wasn’t as smooth and creamy as the other shades in the palette. Because of this reason, I had a little trouble working with the color.
Apart from that, its really commendable how all the shades in this palette are so well done in terms of their texture, feel, pigmentation and blend-ability. Not only that, despite being predominated with a host of warm tones, this is actually a very versatile palette since a lot of looks can be created with this palette. There are mattes, satins and metallic shades, there are bright lid colours as well as transition shades and that gorgeous dark brown coffee shade. Apart from the Raspberry pink shade and the matte red, rest of the shades don’t have any fallout at all. From Smokey eyes, to vivid daytime looks to formal work wear looks, you can actually create a lot of different eye makeup looks with this palette.
My favourite shades in this palettes are Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Realgar and Burnt Orange.
Below are the swatches of the palette and a makeup look that I created with this palette. There is also another makeup look that I had created with this palette that you can see HERE.
