Hi everyone,

Highlighters are my newest makeup obsession and these days I am so enjoying the process of collecting a variety of them in different shades and formulations. Powder highlighters are not only easiest find but also easiest to apply and its no wonder that many brands are now coming up with highlighting powders. The latest addition to my vanity are these two powder highlighters  by L.A. Girl Cosmetics. I saw these L.A. Girl Strobe Lite Strobing Powder on nykaa.com a while ago and after reading some amazing reviews by international bloggers going ga-ga over this product, I decided to get 2 shades for myself. The ones that I got are 50 watt and 110 watt and here’s my quick review on these.

Packaging

The L.A. Girl Strobe Lite Strobing Powder come in a beautiful gold rimmed pressed powder pan with a flip top cap. The packaging does not have any mirror or applicator. It is made of plastic, so it’s lightweight and easy to carry around. However, at no point in time did it feel cheap or clumsy. Rather, it gave a feeling as if I was using some premium brand. Full marks on the packaging!

Shade

While 110 watt is a soft warm neutral beige kind of shade, 50 watt on the other hand is a gorgeous copper-champagne toned shade. Both the shades worked well on  my warm olive medium skin and I can thus safely say these would look amazing on most Indian skin.

Texture

The most remarkable quality about the L.A. Girl Strobe Lite Strobing Powder, is their fine texture. The powder is soft and creamy, very silky and satin like to apply and gives a fine sheen on the highlighted areas. It was a huge relief to see that it was not at all glittery! I really hate it when highlighters look like sparkle powders and thankfully these two only add glow. The intensity is build-able. When used dry these add a soft focus glow to the face but for a brighter and blinding intensity, these can be applied with a damp brush as well.

Staying Powder

This is perhaps one area where the strobing powders lose some score. On me, the powders stay put for 3-4 hours post which they kind of melt into my skin and lose intensity, especially if it is a mildly warm day and I sweat a bit. On a pleasant and cool day, or in air-conditioned environment, these stay put for as long as 7-8 hours.
Overall, the L.A. Girl Strobe Lite Strobing Powders are great drugstore powder highlighters that give you a very naturally glowing luminous skin finish. The intensity can be played up or down depending upon your preference. These can be used both wet and dry. I do recommend trying these out when you find L.A. Girl on sale at Nykaa or if you can get these at their original prices.
