Hello my lovely ladies,
Its been months that I last posted on the blog and blame it partially on the weather and partially on to my poor health. I have so missed writing on the blog, and believe it or not it has been more than a month now that I last wore some makeup. My health was messed up and it showed through my skin but I am just beginning to feel a little better now. I now think its the best time to get back to doing what I love doing the most and what better way than to start by reviewing some new launches by one of my favorite drugstore brands, i.e. FACES.
In this post I will talk about the 3 new products from the Faces Ultime Pro range
FACES Ultime Pro Perfecting Primer
Price: 30 ml/ Rs 899, available at Nykaa.com
The Faces Ultime Pro Perfecting Primer comes in a black tube with a metallic cap and a nozzle shaped dispenser. Since you really don’t need humongous amounts of primer during your makeup application, the nozzle is really useful in dispensing a controlled amount of product.
The Faces Ultime Pro Perfecting primer has really become my go-to primer as its feel and efficiency is quite comparable to my Benefit POREfessional, BUT, at almost 1/3rd of the price. The primer spreads evenly, reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines, thus creating a flawless and smooth base for your makeup to glide on your skin. The texture is really smooth and velvety with a feather-light feel on your skin. It covers the pores beautifully and also helps your makeup to last longer.
FACES Ultime Pro Second Skin Foundation
Price : Rs 1499 / 30 ml
The Faces Ultime Pro Second Skin Foundation comes in a glass bottle with a dropper like dispenser. I am not exactly fond of the packaging for 2 reasons :
- Glass packaging = Fragile
- That dropper like thing never seems to work for me. I have the same issue with my Chambor Orosa Foundation as well so can’t really blame one brand. I now think there is something faulty with the dropper like packaging because the consistency/density of the foundation is a hindrance to proper functioning of the dropper or something like that…anyway..
Packaging aside, I am simply in love with the formula of this foundation. It is medium-dense so it allows work-ability without being too runny. The coverage is medium and if you have skin issues or pigmentation, you would still need a concealer to cover it up. I still can’t hold it against the foundation because no matter what foundation I use, even if it is some high end, heavy coverage type, I always end up using a concealer as well. This fact kind of evens out the odds against this foundation.
The texture is very blendable and the foundation literally sinks into the skin seamlessly. Whether you use a brush or a beauty blender, it works well with both. The foundation has a matte finish so a boon for ladies with oily skin. However, those with dry skin might want to prime their skin with a good moisturiser prior to application as the foundation may feel a bit drying after 5-6 hours of wear.
FACES Ultime Pro Second Skin Pressed Powder
Price : Rs 899
Okay, so going by the step by step procedure of makeup application, it is but natural to have a powder handy once you are done with applying your foundation. Honestly, most drugstore powders do offer some kind of coverage, some light and some medium/heavy, but this beauty fro FACES has such minimal coverage that it just seems so perfect to me for setting the foundation without making it look too dry or cakey.
If you are looking for a powder that offer coverage, please look somewhere else. But if you want to retain the beauty of your foundation without making it look like several layers of makeup, you must get this powder (and you can thank me later!). The first time I used this powder was just on its own and I was like hello! where is all that powder that I applied because I couldn’t see it on my skin. But then I figured it out and used it to set my foundation, especially the under eye area and I was wowed by the beauty of it. The FACES Ultime Pro Second Skin Pressed powder is a super fine, highly blendable powder that offers a silky matte finish and makes your makeup last way longer than what you would expect. I don’t remember the last time I loved a pressed powder so much. Since it is pressed, it is easier to use and carry around and you can forget about flyaways on your dresser and clothes. The performance is very very similar to maybe your favourite loose powder but then loose powder are so bothersome. I never quite liked them anyway, so ya, this one gets all my love for now. It literally feels (and looks like!) your second skin.
Overall, The FACES Ultime Pro Perfecting Primer, Ultime Pro Second Skin Foundation and the Ultime Pro Second skin Pressed powder are such amazing drugstore gems that I can’t recommend them enough. The shade range, although is limited and I have the shade 04 Sand for both the foundation and the powder and they are a perfect match for my NC 42 skin. Darker skin beauties might find it hard to get a good shade match and that’s the only drawback of this range.
