Hope you’re all doing great!
It’s almost winters here in the northern part of India and this is one season that I really dislike. Mostly because I feel more cold than others around me and I hate hiding myself under layers of clothes. Its just so uncomfortable! However, if I were ever to show any love to this season, it will only be because I can wear makeup without having to worry about a meltdown. Anyway, rants apart, today’s post is a review on the newly launched Elle 18 Pop Matte lipsticks that are available in 20 shades. I am quite excited for today’s post for two particular reasons:
- I have been searching crazy for these Elle 18 Pop Matte Lipsticks online but either retails don’t stock it, or they have exorbitant shipping charges as compared to the actual price of the product, which does seem a bit crazy to me.
- There have been such good reviews about the product everywhere that I knew my soul would not rest until I got hold of some of these.
So well, a chance visit to my local market helped me get my hands on these cuties and I got 3 shades to review for you girls, so let’s quickly hop on to the review.

The ELLE 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick come in a simple black plastic casing. It shuts tightly and feels sturdy enough for a budget lipstick. The shade numbers and names are mentioned at the bottom of the lipstick cases. These are priced at Rs 100 for 4.3 g of product, also available at Amazon.in
W11 CHERRY WINE is a beautiful deep maroon-cherry shade. With the current obsession in the beauty world about dark vampy colours, it would make a great addition to your vanity even if you don’t wear such dark colours on a daily basis but would still like to keep one for special occasions.
W12 MAUVE DATE is my favourite color out of the three shades that I got. It is a beautiful mauve with a tinge of dirtiness to it that makes it a great neutral for my NC 42 skin. It has really been a while that I bought neutral everyday colours and somehow this one just called out to me. I am so glad that I got this because I am sure I will be getting a lot of usage out of this shade.
W14 BERRY BESTIE is a bright warm berry that is very flattering on Indian skin. It is also bright enough to be worn on special occasions. The color leans slightly towards violet and that gives it the vibrancy that can cheer you up on gloomy winter days.
The texture of Elle 18 Color Pops Matte lipsticks is smooth and creamy. They glide effortlessly on the lips. These are also quite high on pigment concentration just as the brand claims, so they give you bold and opaque color in just one stroke. These are pretty moisturising and give you a soft matte finish on the lips as is quite visible in the pictures below. The lipsticks last for a good 3-4 hours, and while Cherry Wine and Berry Bestie did leave a slight tint behind, it wasn’t so in case of Mauve Date.
If I were to really pick on flaws, I would say these don’t have an ingredients list mentioned on the packaging. Also, the lipsticks weren’t exactly sealed so maybe that’s one part where the brand can pay some attention. One of my lipsticks was also chipped from the top and I am just guessing that maybe someone tried to open the cap and damaged the tip in the process.
Overall, I am honestly surprised by how good these lipsticks are. Whether you like buying budget makeup or not, these Elle 18 Color Pops Matte lipsticks are definitely worth a try. With the current matte lip craze in the beauty world, many brands are churning out products under the matte category, on after the other but not many of them are able to fulfil the tall claims that they make. Elle 18 on the other side has just one thing to say, “Bold, One Stroke Matte Lip Color” and these lipsticks exactly fulfil the claim. The staying ability is not that great but at that price point, I really don’t have anything to complain. All the three shades that I tried were soft and smooth to apply without being crumbly and were richly pigmented. I am so happy that I got to try them and in my opinion, everyone should, atleast try a few.
Love these!! and Highly recommend them!
