The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara was one of the most awaited new launches by Maybelline this year. It comes in a girly rose pink kind of packaging with a unique curved brush. I like the shape of the brush because it helps reach out to the tiniest of lashes, be it on the upper or on the lower lashes. I have the washable version of this mascara and the shade is called blackest black. It is indeed a dark black mascara and because its the washable variant, it is quite easy to remove as well. What I don’t like about this mascara is the fact that the wand is not as soft as I would have liked it to be. It is quite stiff and might poke in the eye if you aren’t careful. Other than that, I think its a very good mascara that gives both volume and lift to lashes. Even for someone like me who almost has non-existent lashes, this mascara helps highlight lashes beautifully. Also, if you have curled your lashes before applying mascara, the lash sensational mascara helps retain the hold for 7-8 hours. I quite like this mascara and have a general opinion that Maybelline makes the best mascaras in the drugstore category.
Maybelline VIVIDmatte Lipstick in VIVID 8
Price : Rs 475, available at Amazon.in
- Mattes come alive with vivid colors
- Creamy comfortable matte in a sensational formula
- Bright vibrant color pigments
- Nourishing honey nectar
The Maybelline VIVIDmatte Lipsticks have been re-launched in 10 new shades. I wanted to check out the shades in person before buying online, so I was looking out for them in my nearby makeup stores. I was lucky to find these in a store in Sector 14 market in Gurgaon. The range is dominated by Reds and Pinks and that’s something I didn’t quite like. But then again if its a VIVID matte range, I did not think that a brown or a neutral can be made into a VIVID lipstick so that’s okay. The packaging is a simple cuboidal packaging with matte orange caps and a steely body. Strangely enough, there is no scent to these lipstick. It was quite a suprise for me since all Maybelline lipsticks have a strong vanilla-ish scent. I hope this no-scent formula is consistent across the VIVIDmatte range because its more appealing than the strong and heady scent that Maybelline’s previous formulation had.
VIVID 8 is beautiful shade of plummy pink with some violet undertones. This color stood out in all of the 10 new shades. This is a shade that I believe will work across a range of Indian Skin tones. The underlying violet in the shade gives it the brightness that justifies the VIVID tag that Maybelline has put on this bullet of color.
The VIVIDmatte Lipstick in VIVID 8 swatches richly on the hand, however, it is not as intense on the lips on the first coat. That being said, the color does deepen with subsequent swipes and 3 swipes give you opaque color on the lips. It applies smoothly and easily glided on the lips but is NOT creamy. Freshly applied, the lipstick does seem to have a bit of moist sheen BUT after it settles down, like in about 5- 10 minutes, it is definitely a soft matte finish that I am beginning to like.
The lipstick stays for about 3-4 hours, and fades a bit from the centre as you eat and drink along the way. The lipstick also transfers a bit on to cups and glasses though I have to say it’s not as much as I thought it would. VIVID 8 stains the lips very deeply though and even when the color is completely gone, your lips are never bare because the stain is as stark as the lipstick itself, infact better. For the same reason, I like wearing this lipstick as a stain too.
Overall, VIVID8 is a beautiful plummy pink to pick from the 10 new shades of the VIVIDmatte lipstick range by Maybelline. It has a nice texture that is smooth, but not creamy, transfers slightly and leaves a deep berry stain even when it fades out. I am quite impressed by this lipstick because of late there have been a lot of Matte lipsticks in the market that had high claims but have disappointed me to the core. This one is surely different. It is matte, albeit a soft matte one with good lasting ability. It is not particularly hydrating or moisturizing though.
Maybelline Color Show Party Girl Nail Colors 114 Fireworks, 117 Rock The Night
Price : Rs 175 , available at Amazon.in
Well, I don’t know if there is much to say about the Color Show Range of Nail Polishes by Maybelline. They have been my favourite ever since they were launched in India and I have been contemplating doing a swatch post of all of the shades that I own from the range, which I am guessing could be anywhere above 40. See, that shows how much I love them! I never miss a new launch in the Color show category and I was quite excited to see these new party girl glitter nail colors in the new at Nykaa section (which btw, is one section I check almost daily!).
So this time around, I ought only two shades from the range, 114 Fireworks, that is a beautiful red glitter suspended in a transparent base, and 117 Rock The Night, that is blue hex glitter and black and silver micro glitter in a transparent base. Now, I have to say that both of these Nail Polishes are densely packed with glitter, so much that it goes completely opaque in two coats. Also, these I feel these have an improved formula because I wore them without chip for 5 days after which I took them off. Like most glitter nail polishes, these were an absolute pain to take off and even my Innisfree Nail Polish Remover I had to really remain calm and patient because these just refused to budge. BUT, I am not complaining. I am guessing these would be great additions to your Nail Polish drawer with their beautiful glittery finish and extreme long wearing ability.
I am loving the COLOR SHOW Party Girl Nail Colors and I am sure you would too!
And here’s my FOTD using some of the new launch products:
