Highlighters are my latest obsession and while trying to get my hands on some much raved highlighters of the decade, I came across some fabulous reviews on the LAURA GELLER baked gelato swirl illuminator. I read people gushing about the shade Gilded Honey but since I am trying to collect highlighters of different shades, I decided to get Peach Glow instead.
The illuminator comes in a simple plastic pan with a transparent flip top cap. It is sans any brush or mirror and honestly I am fine with it. The packaging is quite basic, to the point of looking boring if I may say so!
The product itself is quite pretty though, and with its gorgeous illuminator swirls, it definittely looks like a gelato but the kinds you don’t want to spoil by digging into!
The LAURA GELLER baked gelato swirl illuminator in Peach glow is described as a Peachy Champagne Shimmer by the brand. I would probably also describe it exactly like that too. Its a very pretty warm peach champagne with a fine sheen. The illuminator is quite pigmented, albeit with a slightly dry and stiff texture that made it difficult for my makeup brushes to pick up the product.
Also, since I like my illuminators to be subtle, I am extremely restrained and careful about the application as the product is quite pigmented and may end up making your skin look metallic rather than just glowy. For me, the best application is achieved using a fan brush.
LAURA GELLER Peach Glow applied smoothly but I felt that the illuminator seemed to emphasize the pores on my skin, especially on the bridge of my nose. Peach Glow lasted for about 6 hours on me and there was noticeable fading towards the end of wear time. That being said, I have to admit that this was on a day when I had travelled from one corner of the city to another on an extremely warm and humid day. I believe it would last longer in case I wore it under controlled climatic conditions or on a colder and drier day.
Overall, the LAURA GELLER baked gelato swirl illuminator in Peach glow is a lovely product to add to your vanity and if you’re someone who like heavy highlighting, this might just bee the right product for you. It is quite pigmented and can help you add a metallic sheen at the snap of your fingers. However, for people like me who prefer subtle glowy highlights, it is a little difficult product to work with since you can easily go overboard.
