Finding the right nude lipstick to match one’s skin tone can really be a daunting task, BUT, once you do, there’s definitely no looking back. It is your purr-fect companion for those lazy days when you don’t want to wear bright colors but still want to look presentable at the least, AND its a great companion for days when you have a glamorous smokey eye going on. Basically, a good nude lipstick can definitely help you to amp up your makeup game, no matter where yu are stuck and I am happy to announce that I found mine in the form of this NYX Liquid SUEDE Cream Lipstick in the shade Soft Spoken.
Price : $7, Rs 850 at Nykaa.com
Now, you guys probably know by now my infinite love for bright and bold lip shades, but occasionally I find myself in a fix when I am trying to pair a lipstick with some unusual or dark or extra colorful eye makeup. Therefore, while picking up a few products from NYX during the time they were launched at Nykaa, I carefully chose the Liquid Suede in the shade Soft Spoken after reading numerous reviews about it and here is what I actually think of this product.
First up, the good things!
Simple Packaging. Its a no-brainer gloss tube with a bent wand that is fit for precise application, and it is also fairly easy to reach for the lip corners with this wand. The product has a nice, rich texture and is quite pigmented. However, it is a bit slick during the first coat and with lighter shades like this one, I got only medium coverage due to product slippage despite it being pigmented. I hope I am able to convey what I am trying to say over here. About a minute or two after application, the product settles to a velvety matte finish. It is definitely not drying on my lips. It stays for a good 5-6 hours with mild snacking. Definitely needs a touch up since it will fade away from the centre of the lip.
The shade SOFT SPOKEN is a nice soft brown with definite hints of taupe, or so I thought. It appeared to have a cool undertone on my hand swatch but was an entirely different story on the lips. On my lips, it was warm and quite taupe-y if I may say so. I really loved it both ways and I personally feel I can alter the understone with a corresponding lip liner to suit my needs.
Now, the not-so-good about the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick.
First, the price in India! C’mon , $7 vs Rs 850. So not fair! and this is after an official launch and all of that brouhaha. I certainly expected better.
In terms of performance, this cream lipstick enhances the appearance of lip lines. And also, it accumulates a bit at the centre of the lips, and may turn a bit tacky at times.
Overall, although I quite love the feel of NYX Liquid SUEDE Cream Lipstick in the shade Soft Spoken on my lips, I don’t see myself buying another shade unless I get it at the actual price. Like really, we do have Chambor Extreme Matte liquids at the same price and those are definitely so much better. That being said, if you are willing to overlook the inadequacies of this lip product, I think the shade, texture and the finish are really lovely and surely would suit the likes of warm Indian Skin.
