So well, late Friday night as I type this, or should I probably call it a bit too early for Saturday morning, I don’t know, but I have to say that this is the best night of the week, and probably Fridays are the best days too, cuz they are so relaxed and not at all rushed. There is an entire weekend to your disposal and you have all the time to indulge and relax and do the things you love doing the most. And for me that one thing is playing with makeup.
I realised today that I have had this lipcolor from LA Girls for a while now and I wanted to review it an so ended up planning a look around it. So well, here I am, with a review of the L.A. Girl MATTE Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in the shade BACKSTAGE.
Price : Rs 575, available at Nykaa
With all the craze around liquid lipsticks, I just picked this lip color on a whim as soon as I saw it on Nykaa.com. The product comes in a gloss like tube with a wand applicator. The applicator picks up enough product to coat the lips with color once. For another layer, you have to dip it one more time.
The shade BACKSTAGE is an intense and rich burgundy, with strong undertones of red. The texture of this lipstick is kind of gooey, and spreading it uniformly on the lips can really be a task. Also, I noticed, that with this lip color, one shouldn’t purse the lips until the color has completely dried because it has a tendency to get displaced. For the same reason, I suggest not trying for a second coat as well because it has a tendency to get patchy as you can see in some of the pictures below. The product is liquid-y when freshly applied and takes about a minute to completely dry to a flat matte finish.
The color stays intact until the time you eat or drink something. It doesn’t really fade, but starts flaking towards its end. It kind of rolls out in flaky bits and that is the ugliest thing about this lip color. Also, it doesn’t leave behind a stain, fades in patches and emphasises lip lines. It such a shame because it’s such a gorgeous color and I love the dark vampy vibes of it. It is still manageable if you don’t put on a second coat of color though! Of course, then there are funny prices that you pay to online stores for bringing them to you.
Overall, I am highly disappointed by the LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in BACKSTAGE. The texture is gloopy, it turns patchy, gets displaced easily and flakes off in bits. I don’t know if that’s the problem with this particular shade or the product line in general, but I hate to say that I wasted my money on a bad product and won’t recommend it to anyone else.
