Garnier has recently launched an entire range of Hair Care under a new line called Ultra Blends. The range consists of a variety of shampoos and conditioners for a variety of hair concerns. I spotted these at my nearest supermarket on a recent visit and got a few products to try from the range. The first product is the Ultra Blends Intense Repair Shampoo which I am going to review today.
The first thing that caught my attention was the beautiful packaging. It instantly reminded me of the Ultra Doux Shampoos and Conditioner I used while I was a little girl. To say the least, it made me feel very very nostalgic. The bottle is a flattened one with a flip top cap. Simple and easy to use.
Garnier Ultra Blends Intense Repair Shampoo claims to be enriched with proteins from key ingredients i.e Soy Milk and Almonds, and is specifically designed to repair and restore damaged hair. While Almonds are supposed to provide deep nourishment, Soy Milk is supposed to enhance the nature lustre of hair and make them look shiny and soft to touch.
The Ultra Blends Intense Repair Shampoo is a milky white and delicately fragrant shampoo with a medium thick consistency that makes it incredibly easy to apply and spread, but its not too runny to slip out of your palms during the process.
This Ultra Blends Intense Repair Shampoo smells beautiful, like a soothing gentle scent that reminds me of maybe some rich body moisturiser or something similar. The scent is so unlike a drugstore shampoo and you have to use it to believe what I say. It is a classy scent, atypical of a shampoo available at your supermarket.
The shampoo lathers easily, and its a rich creamy lather that can be easily spread from roots to tips. It is also as easy to wash off.
Coming to the after effects, I must say I am mighty impressed with how my hair felt after a wash. I did not use any conditioner to see how the shampoo would work if used just on its own. I also did not blow dry my hair. As I let my hair air dry naturally, I could feel the gentle scent lingering filling up my nostrils and a feathery softness on my fingertips as I touched my hair. Despite being enriched with Hydrolysed Soy Protein and Sweet Almond Oil, I did not feel any sort of heaviness that one would usually associate with a deep nourishing shampoo. Even after the second day of the wash, my hair felt light and bouncy, deeply nourished and soft to touch minus any greasiness on the scalp (brownie points for that!).
Overall, I am very impressed with the Garnier Ultra Blends Intense Repair Shampoo. The product does all that it claims, and it managed to keep my hair nourished and frizz free even after the second day of the wash. Especially considering the fact that I have an Oily Scalp and Dry ends (thanks to endless rounds of Hair Coloring!), it did not weigh my hair down. The scent is dainty and feminine and quite unlike what I expected out of a drugstore shampoo. It is definitely a must try,( yes I said it! ), and will put a chunk of your hair concerns at bay specially if you are always trying to add some softness to your mane. It is a tad expensive if you compare with other drugstore shampoos, BUT the product delivers what it promises and totally justifies the price! Get it now!
