Hi All ,
Last winters when my skin was all dry and dull, I decided to try some skincare from KAMA AYURVEDA, about which I also blogged about and finally after using the products for 4 months, I have decided to pen down my thoughts on the same.
The KUMKUMADI Miraculous Beauty Fluid Ayurvedic Night Serum is one of the most raved about facial oils available in India. It is also listed as a bestseller on the Kama Ayurveda website. The REJUVENATING & BRIGHTENING Night Cream is another popular product on the Kama Ayurveda Website and has an impressive ingredient list that made me give this one a trial too.

The Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid comes in a glass bottle with a dropper and a price tag of Rs 1890/ 12 ml. The price tag is pretty hefty if we compare it with many other facial oils available in the Indian market. The glass bottle is nice and sturdy and is travel friendly as well if I may say so. Also since the quantity is quite less, so it does not violate airline guidelines and one can carry it in their purse as well.
The serum is a golden yellow coloured fluid and is quite runny in consistency. I am glad that the product comes with a dropper because all one would need at one time is only 2 drops. It spreads easily and get absorbed fast into the skin. This product is ssupposed to be used at night time only and since it leaves a slightly greasy residue on the skin and a strong herbal infusion kind of scent, I would suggest using it at bedtime alone.
Next is the KAMA AYURVEDA Rejuvenating & Brightening Night Cream (Rs 1650 / 50 g) that comes in a glass jar with screw top plastic lid and a protective lid inside. Also, I think I has got a spatula with the cream but I can’t remember where I kept it so clean and sanitized hands work best for me when it comes to taking out the required amount to be used. The night cream is pale creamy yellow in color with a strong herbal scent and get absorbed easily in the skin without any greasy feeling. On extremely hot days, one might tend to sweat a bit after applying this cream and a god way to wipe the sweat off without wiping the cream is to blot with tissues or a muslin handkerchief.
Initially, when I had started using these products, I got a little over enthusiastic about the whole thing and used only the serum on my face and as a result ended up with bad breakouts. Held it being responsible for the breakout and didn’t quite realise that the amount I was using was much more than what was required for my skin. However, with subsequent usage, I figured out the right quantity for my kind of skin and there has been no looking back every since. I use the Kumkumadi serum in conjunction with the Rejuvenating and Brightening night cream at night and only the Rejuvenating and Brightning Night Cream during the day, and that’s pretty much all about my current skincare. I don’t use any additional eye cream and this and that and blah blah blah and I am very happy with this schedule. Using the night cream at day time may sound odd to some of you, but I really don’t think I need an additional day cream because I have my SPF in place.
Also,Rejuvenating and Brightening (Night) Cream gives me sufficient hydration to last me the whole work day in an air-conditioned environment and I just love the supple dewy look that this cream gives my skin without feeling like an oil-bomb.
With continuous usage of about 4 months now, my facial skin looks visibly brighter and more supple. The night cream also doubles up as an eyecream so the dullness around eyes is also taken care of. There is a marked difference in the hydration levels of the skin and also in the way scars and fine lines have faded so they aren’t really stark. However, my skin still breaks out on and off so the marks never fade away completely. I use both the serum and the cream at night, and only the cream during the day.
Overall, I am mighty impressed with the KUMKUMADI Miraculous Beauty Fluid and the Rejuvenating & Brightening Night Cream from the house of Kama Ayurveda, a tad more with the Rejuvenating and Brightening Cream. These two products when used regularly for a period of over 4 months have made my facial skin appear supple and more youthful by balancing the hydration levels and minimizing the appearance of fine lines. Also, it has helped to reduce the scars due to repeated skin breakouts. However, if one is looking to deal with heavy scarring an skin issues, I would suggest consulting a dermatologist and not look for solutions in topical treatments.
