China Glaze Nail Lacquer (Rs 500/14 ml,available online at Jabong.com), WATERMELON RIND is from the Summer Days collection released in 2009. I have had this Nail Polish for about 3 years now, but never really paid much attention to it. A few days ago, I was craving for an emerald green nail color and remembered that I DID have something similar in my Nail polish collection,so took this one out and here’s my review on it!
WATERMELON RIND is a beautiful shade of emerald, with tons of teal and silver glitter that gives it a glass-like appearance. The Nail Lacquer sparkles beautifully in sunlight . In my opinion,it’s quite a unique combination of color and finish. Absolutely endearing!
The nail polish comes in a huge 14 ml glass bottle with a black cap.The quantity is almost double of regular drugstore polishes. The cap closes firmly, and feels very sturdy. The brush is quite thin, but I’m okay with it since it allows for precise application.
The consistency of this nail polish is quite thin, but not runny. The application is quite flawless, without any streakiness or patchiness. It needs complete three coats to go opaque and takes a bit long to dry. You need to build up the color layer by layer, and allow for substantial drying time between each coat.. I get best results if I wear it over a base coat, preferable a nude/white colored one.
The polish chips, well , in just about 2 days. Totally not expected !
Overall, the China Glaze Nail Lacquer WATERMELON RIND is a stunningly beautiful emerald green polish with teal glitter. It applies beautifully, but takes a bit too long to dry and chips quite fast. At this price point, I would have expected it to at least last longer, even if it took a lot of time to dry. Applying a base coat of color surely helps in making the polish look better in terms of color. If you are much into Greens, you may try out this color, but don’t expect too much out of it!
