MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick-Ramblas Red – Review

Hey  Girls,
You know how desperately each one of us keeps looking for their kind of RED and how ecstatic we feel once we find it….Well, it just so happens with me all the time, I being a Red Lipstick person,am always on the search for THAT RED , which would be classy and elegant and not too much in the face kinds, yes that’s my kind of Red and you can imagine my mood when I tried this lipstick from the MAC which was released as a part of the Euristocrats collection in 2008. I literally jumped with joy, well almost!!  I was hung up on buying a red only, and Dubonnet and Russian Red didn’t exactly fit in my preference card, and then the SA asked me to try Ramblas Red…In flatly 5 secs my tired face just brightened up and I looked so fresh and awake, and I wanted to just take that baby home only to find out that they didn’t have it in stock…grr…that’s criminal, to keep a tester of such an amazing product on the aisle and not have in in there….Well, anyway, after about a week or so, I happened to check in to another MAC store and the rest, as they say,  is history……
The Amplified Creme lipsticks from MAC need no introduction as they are such a hit with all lipstick lovers, they are creamy and moisturizing (at least I found them so!), go on opaque in just one swipe and have the classic MAC vanilla fragrance which I adore. The only problem is you dare not wear it without a lip liner because the creamy texture of the lipstick may cause it to feather on the edges.

Ramblas Red is a very beautiful Blue Red which would look good on all skin tones (IMHO! ) and can brighten up your face and cheer up your mood at any point of the day, I wear it during the day lightly , perhaps like a lip stain topped with gloss, and in full intensity during evening  and it never fails me.
The best way to wear this lipstick is to keep the rest of the makeup very light and/or neutral. If I’m going to wear it during the day, I wear only Khol and  light matte peachy blush, and if I’m wearing it during evenings,I give my eyes a light wash of pale gold and define the crease and use a gel liner for some intensely defined eyes. You may or may not wing out the liner according to your preference. and the blush can be a shimmery peach or maybe just a  little contouring.

The staying power  of this lipstick is just great too, it stays for 4+ hours on me with meals in betwen and fades to a bright berry pink kind of stain which can just be topped with gloss and you’re good to go again!!

I have worn whites and blacks with this lipstick (yes I match my outfits to my makeup, always!! 😛 ) and it always looks gorgeous. In short, its my lipstick lifeline..I can just live with this color for the rest of my life!!

Price: INR 990 for 3g and since these lipsticks are so pigmented, its worth every penny MAC charges for it !!

And here is how it looks on me…
