Hope you’re having a bright and sparkly day with lots of sunshine. I’m back with yet another review of my favorite NYX product, the soft matte lip cream in Addis Ababa.
How I landed up with this product is quite a story, and I really got scared the time I first saw it, but when I did test it on my lips, I so fell in love with it…read on to know more…

My verdict on the NYX SMLC in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa is a gorgeous blue toned candy pink shade which I agree looks way to scary in the tube than it actually is. Worn with minimal eye makeup and a neutral blush, it can add a lot of freshness on the face. Though I agree this shade may suit light skinned beauties more than their dusky counterparts, but hey, if you do like to experiment with a lot of shades on lips, let not your skin tone hold you back.
Before the Addis Ababa episode happened in my life, I was always too wary of trying out cool toned lip colors and somehow always bought colors within my comfort zone of warm undertones. But after trying out this color, I now feel I’m more open to cool toned lipsticks as well which can explain a sudden upsurge of many new shades in my lipstick collection. On one coat this just adds that hint of bubblegum pink to the lips, but it can be layered to give that brighter hue which it actually is. If you feel that the color is too bright for you, it can always be toned down with a lip gloss in a darker shade, or lining your lips with a shade lighter or darker than this according to how much you want to tone it down.
Coming on to the texture and finish , like it is said on the NYX website, this neither too waxy like a lipstick, nor too sparkly like a gloss, and sets to a matte finish. It is somewhere in between, and I love the way it just spreads on the lips, very smooth and soft. It takes about a minute to set and then it is almost smudge proof. But one thing that need to be taken care of while using this Lip Cream is that it tends to settle in the fine lines, so it is advisable to exfoliate the lips before applying this, and since it dries to a matte finish, it should be topped with a gloss to give that moisturized look to the lips that I prefer.
The thing that I strongly dislike is the bubble gum scent that these Soft Matte lip Creams come with. Not that it’s hugely bothersome, because it fades soon, but those who do not like strong scents in their makeup products will not like this too..
This also comes in a tube with a regular doe foot applicator which gives a precise and even application. I do not generally use a lip liner with this because once set, it does not bleed or feather. It stays upto 3 hrs for which I’ve tested it and leaves a light stain behind.
And to the most awaited part: swatch
And here is how it looks on me
Have a super day lovelies !!!
